Once registration has closed, teams will be drafted at random with the only requirement being that Travel team players are split evenly amongst the recreation teams.  You will be notified via Email/SI app of team placement.

Do the girls practice? How often?

Practices are up to the discretion of coaches, typically at least once a week during the preseason. After opening day, practices will depend on game schedules.

What should my daughter(s) bring to practices and games?

A good attitude, fielding glove, a face mask (not needed for T-ball) and helmet (The league does have some community equipment).

Where are the games played?

T-ball games are played exclusively at Colonie Girls Softball fields located at Lisha Kill Sports Complex, 288 Consaul Rd., Albany, N.Y.  Other division games are a mixture of home but also require some travel as we play many interleague games around the Capital Region. Your child’s coach will provide you with a schedule.

What days of the week and what times are games played?

Games vary depending on the schedule. Weeknight games start at 6:15pm and weekend games typically take place on Saturdays, excluding opening day which is a Sunday.

When does the season start and end?

Opening day will be Sunday, April 28th and the season typically ends beginning of June.

How many games do the girls play?

Can I manage a team or coach?

Absolutely, we are always looking for volunteers. Just notify the league of your interest while signing up your daughter.

I don't know anything about softball. Is there any other way I can help?

We are always looking for additional volunteers between the concession stand, field cleanups etc. Please let the league know of your interest when signing up your daughter.

What are my responsibilities during the season?

Being positive and supportive, ensuring your child makes it to practices and games in a timely manner. If your child is unable to make it to a practice or game, please communicate with the coach. You will also be asked to assist in the concession stand at least once per season depending on schedules.

I've heard about Travel teams. What are they?

Travel teams are potentially available at the 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U levels.  We currently have travel teams at 10U (Colonie WrecK, and 16U (Colonie Crusaders).

Travel teams play a Hudson Mohawk schedule during the months of June and July consisting of typically 16 games. Travel teams will also typically play in multiple tournaments during the months of June and July depending on the team.

Where and when do league officials meet, discuss and decide important issues affecting the league?

Executive Board meetings take place on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Please follow Colonie Girls Softball on Facebook for more information.
